 K. H. Ginzel MD

While the field of tobacco control is populated with distinguished efforts, few reach the breadth across disciplines and history as Dr. K.H. Ginzel’s. An Emeritus Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Dr. Ginzel shares a perspective grounded in his experimental investigation of nicotine action and his wide-ranging educational activities promoting the prevention of tobacco use and of the numerous maladies resulting from it. As a public health advocate, he introduced some of the first and most comprehensive smoke free laws in the southwest  His attached curriculum vitae reflects a stunning career breaking ground in research and advocacy spanning decades.

In the 80s, when Dr. Ginzel testified about the dangers of secondhand smoke before the Arkansas General Assembly, some of the legislators actually smoked in the committee room where he spoke. And though awareness of the threat from the tobacco industry has grown in the years since, even today tobacco control advocates too frequently have compromised the challenge.  Dr. Ginzel offers novel solutions that fairly roar with integrity and common sense. TFMC is humbled with the opportunity to share some of his recent papers.  You are encouraged to peruse, learn, and grow from a brief sample of this most esteemed gentleman’s work.
